About the Parish

Faithful, Engaging, Hospitable, Inclusive - read our statement of intent.

The Parish of Holy Trinity and St Mary's Guildford is a thriving community in the centre of Guildford with Guildford Methodist Church at St Mary's. We are a member of the cluster group with St Nicolas' and St Saviour's Guildford.

The churches of Holy Trinity and St Mary's have a long tradition of witness to Christ's presence in the community of Guildford. For more than ten centuries they have preached the Good News of Christ to the town, welcoming those in need or in search of spiritual help.  Holy Trinity and St Mary's provide the focus for friendship, personal growth, service and nourishment. The central place the two churches hold in our town is underlined by their active involvement with the broader community in worship, cultural activity and charitable work. We are very fortunate to be part of this remarkable community of faith.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is at the heart of the gospel. We are called to welcome and show compassion to the oppressed and vulnerable and be a voice for the voiceless victims of injustice. Safeguarding good practice in church helps us to do this and to develop a culture of care underpinned by God’s unconditional love and welcome for all.

Church Wardens

Holy Trinity: 'Tricia McIntosh and Stephen Marriott
St Mary’s: Mary Howard and Steve Palmer

There are four Churchwardens for the Parish of Holy Trinity and St Mary's, elected to serve for three years. Churchwardens have specific responsibilities under Canon Law of the Church of England including representing the Bishop in the parish and being responsible for the church buildings and contents.

On the less formal front, the Churchwardens have a stage-managing role, ensuring that all is set up and ready for the regular Sunday services and other additional civic services and celebrations. Attending meetings of the PCC and other parish groups and working with the clergy team and members of the PCC brings a rich agenda of projects and plans.
