Pastoral Care

The Holy Trinity and St Mary's Pastoral Care Group

The parish has a pastoral care group whose members share in the pastoral care we offer in conjunction with the clergy team. Members of the pastoral care group are appropriately DBS checked and undertake the mandatory safeguarding training as required by the diocese. The group meets at least every six weeks to update each other on pastoral situations, to plan visits and to plan occasional social events. All information is shared in confidence and information is only shared from the meetings with the Rector.

Regular duties include:

  • Keeping in touch with members of the congregation unable to get to church frequently

  • Visiting the housebound/pastoral visits

  • Liaising with family members of parishioners who are in need

  • Accompanying parishioners to appointments (e.g. medical) or parish activities

  • Assisting with getting shopping and collecting prescription medication for parishioners

  • Assisting with home Communions

  • Assisting with the preparation and running of social events such as coffee mornings

  • Updating the clergy team on pastoral matters as they arise

  • Where a safeguarding matter is concerned, reporting to the Parish Safeguarding Officer

If you have any Safeguarding concerns you should speak in confidence to Simon (rector@holytrinityguildford.org.uk) or to Mari our Parish Safeguarding Officer (safeguarding@holytrinityguildford.org.uk).

For further help or information about the Pastoral Care Team please contact Chloe or Corinne in the Parish Office who will put you in touch with a member of the group.
