our services

The style of worship at Holy Trinity & St Mary’s falls within the liberal tradition of the Church of England.

There are usually two services at Holy Trinity, a Sung Eucharist (Common Worship) and Evensong (Book of Common Prayer), on a Sunday. Morning Prayer is said every weekday. Sunday worship is led by the fifty-strong choir. At St Mary’s every Sunday we have the 8am Book of Common Prayer service and a 10.30 service which alternates between Methodist and Anglican ministers.

Starting in August 2025, we are introducing Haven - a contemporary, inclusive and informal service that will take place in the gorgeous setting of St Mary’s church, on Sunday at 6pm. This will become a regular fixture in the Parish Calendar from October 2025. For more information CLICK HERE.

The Christian message often surprises us by over-turning our expectations. In John’s Gospel we read the story of the woman at the well. It is Jesus who is in need – he’s the thirsty one. The woman is the one who can help and serve. Yet as she does this she finds new ways of coming close to God through Jesus and, most importantly, she finds that she is known, accepted and loved in the deepest possible way. We hope that the pattern of this story can be repeated for each of us here in this Parish.
