Volunteering for the Exhibition
To successfully host the exhibition and have it open to visiting groups and the general public, we will need to have a number of volunteers each session; these fall into 2 categories, Stewarding and Hospitality, although there is some inevitable crossover as we welcome people into St Mary’s.
Stewards have 5 key roles
To welcome
To inform
To help provide oversight and security
To enable the exhibition to be open to visitors
To listen and watch
We will need 3 Stewards for each open session. Full induction for Stewards will take place at the exhibition on Saturday 7th March 2026 prior to the exhibition opening, with the possibility of an earlier session in person or on Zoom a couple of weeks before the exhibition opens. Team Leaders will need training at St Mary’s with the exhibition in place.
Hospitality includes welcoming at the door, potentially selling booklets, postcards and event tickets, and helping with refreshments in an area separate from the exhibits, and hosts should attend training on the 7th March if at all possible.
For open sessions one of the Stewards will be the Team Leader, will have responsibility for the session, and will receive additional training on security arrangements; the Team Leader will most likely be someone within the organising committee, but could be open to other Stewards with additional training.
We are hoping that Stewards and those offering Hospitality could volunteer for a 2 hour or 3 hour slot, but we are happy to be flexible if there are offers for shorter or longer times.
The exhibition runs for 4 weeks, but will not be open to the public all the time; our first focus for volunteering sessions is on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with the potential to open for a morning or afternoon on other days of the week if we have enough volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer, or find out more about what it entails, please complete the paper form at the back of both Holy Trinity & St Mary’s, or the electronic form found on the link here,
